ATTENTION FLEETWOOD RESIDENTS

Fleetwood Borough is entering into a joint effort with the Berks County Redevelopment Authority to establish a Redevelopment Plan for our municipality. This Redevelopment Plan addresses improvements for Main Street and land development for the former Garden State Tannery site.

The last Fleetwood Planning Committee meeting was held on September 27, 2007.  The minutes of the meeting are available below (PDF Format).

The last public meeting was held 12/10/07 at 6:15 PM, room 113 of the Community Center.

FLEETWOOD BOROUGH
TANNERY REDEVELOPMENT AREA

GOALS

  1. IMPROVE TURNING RADIUS - Northeasterly comer of N. Franklin Street and E. Main Street
  2. CREATE PEDESTRIAN WAY - S. Pearl Alley between W. Main Street and Foundry Alley
  3. WIDEN FOUNDRY ALLEY - Between S. Richmond Street and S. Franklin Street
  4. REROUTE ROUTE 662 - Consider using former Tannery Site, OR Consider W. Main Street and S. Richmond Street for southbound and W. Locust Street and S. Franklin Street for northbound designations
  5. PROVIDE INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS - Provide uniform curb and sidewalk materials and color. Install ornamental street lighting. Provide plant material to soften hard surfaces.
  6. DEVELOP TANNERY SITE - Attract commercial development to former Tannery building site
  7. REVISE ZONING MAP AND TEXT - Encourage wider variety of uses for Tannery site
  8. REDEVELOP BUILDING SUPPLY SITE - Discuss options with property owner
